Experimental model have been suggested to be due to phytosterols of
pumpkin seed oil (PSO), are known to inhibit 5 α-reductase and to have antiandrogenic
effects. Delta-7-sterols, is stopped agents of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)
androgen receptors and thus it is inhibits the proliferation of prostate cells.
Lower risk of prostate cancer is cause of dietary sterols. The effects of
alpha-tocopherol and selenium are significant in preventing of oxidative damage
to lipids, vitamins, hormones
and enzymes. In experiments, a hypotensive action was
demonstrated by the oil alone, and in combination with captopril and felodipine,
also some constituent isolated from pumpkin seeds act as trypsin- inhibitors.
The anthelmintic effect is attributed to the constituent cucurbitine. The
efficacy of Pumpkin seed oil (PSO) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and
Urodynamic effects, Cardiovascular activity, Anti-inflammatory activity,
Hypolipidemic effects, Antioxidant activity, etc. confirmed by numerous
experimental studies (Clinical and animal models).
