Topical: Treatment of skin inflammation such as atopic eczema and arthralgia

Black cumin has traditionally been used for carminative, cough, asthma, inflammation, local anesthetic and worm. In traditional medicine of Iran, used as well as to increase lactation, treatment of intestinal worms, cathartic and carminative.


Anti- inflammatory properties: Inhibitory effects of N. sativa oil and its active ingredients on the production of inflammatory mediators have been reported in several in vitro studies. For instance, thymoquinone and the crude fixed oil inhibited both cyclooxygenase and 5- lipoxygenase pathways of arachidonate metabolism in rat peritoneal leukocytes, also inhibited nonenzymatic peroxidation in brain phospholipid liposomes.

 Anti- allergic properties: The oil decreased the IgE level, eosinophil count and endogenous cortisol in plasma and urine.

Brain Injury and Edema: The results of experimental study (animal model) showed, administration of the Nigella sativa oil may produce a protective effect against the ischemic brain injury, also can noticeably decrease it, and attenuate edema formation and improve motor disabilities.


Oral: Take one capsule, 3 times a day, with a glass of water.

Topical: Hole the capsule and apply the oil to the desired area and massage it.

Drug Interaction

Due to the prevention of uterine contractions, concurrent with fertility medicines is not recommended.

Side effects

Allergic contact dermatitis and skin irritation may occur after topical use of black seed oil on the skin.


Nigella oil is mainly composed of unsaturated fatty acid that includes linoleic, oleic acids. palmitic, myristic, stearic, arachidonic, eicosadienoic, α, γ linolenic  acid are lower. Also, thymoquinone is a main volatile compound that there is in the oil.
